Touring around the site of Takada-jo, the castle of Matsudaira Tadateru
This is a tour to walk around Takada Park, the site of the castle where Matsudaira Tadateru, the sixth son of Tokugawa Ieyasu, had resided.
In the early 1990’s, the three-story tower (called sanju-yagura) of the castle was rebuilt as a history museum. If you go all the way up to the third floor, you can enjoy the view of Takada, which Lord Tadateru had also admired.
Joetsu Municipal General Museum and old residence of Kobayashi Kokei (Kobayashi Kokei Memorial Museum of Art) are also located in Takada Park.
There is a huge festival in April called “Kan-ou-kai”, which translates to “enjoy viewing the cherry blossoms”. Takada Park is known as one of the three most beautiful illuminated cherry blossoms in Japan.
There is another festival in summer called “Hasu-matsuri”, which translates to “lotus festival”, where many people visit to admire the beautiful lotus flowers blooming in the moat.

*Depending on the sightseeing location, there is a place (facility) closed for the winter season (tourist impossible). Also, sightseeing may not be available depending on time and day of the week. Please check with the IM taxi in advance.
